The follow-up to Nightfall Protocol has been dated for summer 2027, with the studio confirming that most of the original cast will return for the next chapter of the story.

What we know so far

Filming is due to begin early next year across studio sets and outdoor locations. The sequel picks up shortly after the first film’s ending and moves the action off-world for the first time.

  • A summer 2027 cinema release, followed by streaming later in the year
  • The original director returns, working from a new script
  • A larger budget, with more practical effects promised

Official synopsis: the protocol has failed, the signal is spreading, and the only crew who survived the first outbreak must decide who to trust.

Why it matters

Original science fiction rarely gets a second instalment, so a sequel suggests the studio sees Nightfall Protocol as a long-term franchise rather than a one-off.
